Maintenance and Servicing of a Cleanroom :- Requirements and Insights

A clean room is such an area which not only requires technical expertise to design, develop and install, but also needs to be maintained in the same fashion. For this an equally skilled and experienced team or a serve provider is obviously needed. Regularity in carrying out the maintenance procedures, on a periodic basis, ensure the proper performance of the environment in a cleanroom. The process of cleaning also has a specific method that is, beginning at the topmost area and working towards the lower areas and the floor last of all. All the areas are to be subjected to a high suction vacuum cleaning, and then the areas, properties, equipment and the miscellaneous items are then wiped thoroughly with a sanitizer or a similar liquid. Then the entire area is dried thoroughly to eliminate any moisture related contamination or formation of fungus and similar microbial growth which is a threat to the cleanroom.  Specialised cleanroom equipments, like the air filters which are very crucial in maintaining the air quality of the cleanroom must be specially cleaned on priority and equal caution and care. These filters comprise of filter grids which are to be cleaned at regular intervals for best performance and consistent maintaining of the air quality.

Apart from this, the grids also have to be cleaned and ionised periodically for their peak performance. Once the cleaning of the entire area is done, then the recalibration process must be carried out to ensure that the clean room complies with the prescribed levels. First of all the particulate levels should be assessed and the results must be compared with the standard levels and necessary adjustments must be executed in case of non-compliance. Particulate assessments should be carried out at different locations within the cleanroom, in order to ascertain the particulate levels are within the prescribed standards. In case any area does not meet the required additional cleaning has to be done if needed.  While carrying out this exercise it is very much necessary to pay special attention to crevices in which particulate matter can accumulate. Air particulates must be checked thoroughly in order to determine the contamination levels, periodically so that the consistency of the cleanroom is maintained. When it comes to the floor area, it is thoroughly cleaned first with water and then with isopropyl alcohol mixture. Likewise, other equipment also needs proper maintenance which sometimes may require special procedures. Isolating with polycarbonate shields prevents the spread of greasy and other sticky matter which otherwise may become matter of concern. As mentioned earlier there are specialised companies that carry out the servicing and maintenance of these kinds of cleanrooms. Utopia is a specialised company that carries out the servicing and maintenance of cleanroom and also designs and installs cleanrooms for various industrial and healthcare sectors.
